Second Virtual Meeting of Inter Islamic Networks, COMSTECH
COMSTECH, Islamabad hosted the second virtual meeting on the Inter-Islamic Network on Monday, December 20th, 2021. Second Virtual Meeting of Inter Islamic Networks, COMSTECH

The meeting was attended by H.E. Prof. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, COMSTECH Coordinator General, Dr. M.A. Mahesar, COMSTECH Advisor on Inter-Islamic Networks, representatives from the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology (MSRT), as well as the heads of the following COMSTECH Inter-Islamic networks:

 
  • Inter-Islamic Network on Virtual Universities
  • Inter-Islamic Network on Oceanography
  • Inter-Islamic Network on Tropical Medicine
  • Inter-Islamic Network on Science and Technology Parks
  • Inter-Islamic Network on Water Resources Development & Management
  • Inter-Islamic Network on Space Sciences and Technology
  • Inter-Islamic Network on Biosaline Agriculture
  • Inter-Islamic Network on Information Technology
  • Inter-Islamic Network on Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology

 
The meeting started by congratulating H.E. Prof. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary on receiving the Mustafa Prize 2021. Then the discussion that took place focused on the ongoing activities and programs of the networks as well as difficulties facing their progress. Each network presented a brief review of their programs, shedding light on some issues and concerns. These concerns were addressed directly by the coordinator general and Dr. Mahesar and certain solutions were proposed.
 

INSTP Secretary General, Dr. Basti, presented an account of INSTP activities and future planned programs, including collaborations with other Inter-Islamic networks and the forth General Assembly meeting planned to take place in May 2022.

 

The meeting was also attend by the Inter-Islamic Network on Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology; a network previously suspended by COMSTECH Executive Committee. The network presented their future plans to be reactivated in order to resume their programs and work. The program was concluded by suggesting a meeting for the heads on the networks in Islamabad in or around February 2022, which was agreed upon by the participants.
